2009-01-31 [LynnAnneBrown]: Agreed. This discussion alone has made me realize that It would be difficult for any one person alone to come up with a definition and develop the criteria for jurying the work. So too this end I have just created a wiki, Photo Manips as Fine Art~A Definition so that those who are interested can have a place to work out the details and can be used as foundation for a proposal to council for having it included as a medium in the "Art" competitions. I would also like to figure out a way to get the word out about the wiki, so that we can get as many contributers and supporters as possible.
2009-01-31 [moira hawthorne]: [LynnAnneBrown] once you get a basic layout... and the general idea out... there is a way to invite everyone to the wiki... its a new feature... so ask Artsie... or someone else
[Rebulous] the only way to edit/adjust MY pose... is to take dozens of photos and see which slight hand or face shift works better... but since Im posing to empty space the minute adjustments needed are really hard to judge
I can manip Aodh to an certain extend without distorting him... and I will edit paint him to make adjustments as well
BUT due to the difficulty of my photo pose... and also the theme that we ARENT actually in the same universe so to speak... I thought a little moment before the actual KISS... not quite touching/mis-a
2009-01-31 [LynnAnneBrown]: I agree, you have managed to capture that brush of air, just before the kiss quite nicely.
2009-01-31 [moira hawthorne]: what does everyone think of faded Aodh? as if he really doesnt exist in the real world?
if he wasnt faded I could adjust my left hand easier... b/c you wouldnt see the photo behind him and I could adjust the arm there
I dont know if I can get the kiss itself better from my part... its really hit and miss... matchin mouths
2009-01-31 [Rebulous]: OK, I didn't fully realise the effect you were going for, the different universe angle. I seem to misunderstand your intent a lot. Given these parameters, the image works pretty well.
2009-01-31 [moira hawthorne]: yes the idea of Forbidden Love... is b/c I am of the real world... and he isnt... he is my muse and subject of of my art.. he exists in my art... my head... and heart.. but is not tangible... so while I was trying to pull off a kiss with him... my small errors in proportioning and alignment are helpful to that objective...
2009-01-31 [moira hawthorne]: SOOOOO... what does everyone think of faded Aodh? as if he really doesnt exist in the real world? should I keep him faded... or just painterly?
2009-02-02 [Lord Dog]: I think you should have kept him solid...I also have other ideas but all in all I like the image either way
2009-02-02 [moira hawthorne]: what are your other ideas?.. speak up... I may do them... it all depends... this is quite hard.. and I still havent finished gato's
2009-02-02 [LynnAnneBrown]: I like the solid Aodh, what I was thinking would be interesting is if you did a painted background behind your figure and left the photographic background behind the Aodh figure.
2009-02-02 [moira hawthorne]: that would be interestin... maybe make it a woods... or if if anyone has a different suggestion...
2009-02-02 [LynnAnneBrown]: I like the woods idea, The outdoor setting would make a nice contrast to the indoor of the photo background. Another element of the "Never the twain shall meet" theme of the ArtWork.
2009-02-03 [Lord Dog]: What's Aodh's house like? I would put that behind Moira
2009-02-03 [moira hawthorne]: that's a GOOOOOOOD question... hummm he is a musician... he has a studio loft usually when he isnt tourin on a bus
2009-04-11 [Elfie_Lauren]: Lawl I wish I knew how to do that with my photos!!! Thats so cool xD Anyways how did you do that Moira???? The part where you take the other guy and added him into your photo???
2009-04-11 [moira hawthorne]: well the EASY way would be just to paint him in.. in photoshop or another art program
but i did it the hard way... starting with a painting of him/Aodh i already had made
than i had to remove the other guy and the back ground... and somehow i had to pose to match his position... it was alot of work!!!
2009-05-09 [jaraden]: well it turned out REALLY well moira!! loves it!!!!!
2009-05-09 [moira hawthorne]: you like the new one?
2009-05-14 [jaraden]: heck yeah i do!! did you paint both digitally moira?? if so you ROCK!
2009-05-14 [moira hawthorne]: The Bright Idea is all digital... no reference... just drew it off the top of my head... in about... well a few hours... time is sortta meaningless when Im doing art
2009-05-15 [jaraden]: too true, i know exactly what you mean kiddo!
